I also enjoyed how he defeated the villain without threats or chasing him; instead, he used insinuation and storytelling.

Heyer subtlely highlighted the limitations of women during this period. Leonie hates trading in her breeches for layers of petticoats and skirts, she refuses to ride side-saddle, and is always shooting at villains to death (even even though it's a risky job). While Avon is a bit apprehensive by her erratic ways at first, Avon soon realizes she is his favorite.

It was a bit challenging to keep track of the story at first, because Heyer calls the Duke by different names on the first few pages. Once you get it figured out, the book becomes much more comprehensible. This book was fantastic and I highly recommend it.
