It uses dual-laser LiDAR -- similar to what you'll find in self-driving vehicles -- and can scan an area of up to 32 feet in 270 degrees. While the Anker-owned Eufy is well-known in the robot vacuum space but this model is its first foray into the world of mopping. It's a mid-range robot cleaner that's attractive even if its claim of being a one-stop-shop for floor cleaning doesn't quite make sense.

The X8 Hybrid looks like a standard robotic vacuum cleaner from the top with its circular design with sweeping wheels and an elevated area for sensors. On the other hand you'll find a motorized floorbrush as well as a single side brush that moves dust away from the edges and into the main path of its'mouth.' It's a little smaller than the main brushes on the rival iRobot Roomba S9, which I found makes it easier to get under couches and chairs.

This robot was very successful in our tests of hardwood floors and food particles. It ate everything, from a single rice grain to a variety of dog food pieces with just one pass. It had a bit of difficulty transitioning to carpets, but in general this vacuum cleaner is perfect for rooms that have both types of flooring and a variety of pets.

The A4s Pro is expensive however it's a great purchase for those who want to be able to leave the house without hands so that they can do other things or do chores. The A4s Pro has a convenient auto-cleaning mode that boosts suction to take on difficult dirt or spills. It also comes with a battery powered ElectroWall to establish boundaries for the robot vacuum for dog hair.

This budget-friendly robot from a renowned new brand is the most affordable we've ever tested and offers incredible value for the money. The basic navigation system employs a super-basic random pathing algorithm and lacks room mapping capabilities, which makes it less time efficient than other models on this list. However it's still able navigate under furniture and into corners and its mopping feature performed well during our tests, picking up stray pet hair and other debris easily.

Shark's iQ may not be as well-built, but it is better at cleaning pet hair from all surfaces. It gets rid of floors with less thoroughly and does a good job on carpets with a low pile and uses smart-pathing navigational technology for better maneuverability. It can be sent to a specific location, and includes a variety of advanced automation features, including no-go zones and schedules. It also lets you stop and restart cleaning sessions, so it's perfect for homes with pets.

Its self-cleaning brushroll helps prevent tangles with pet hair and other debris and its bagless self-emptying dock station can store up to 30 days worth of dirt prior to needing to be cleaned. It has a set of angled side brushes that can reach into corners and a multi-stage filter system that captures dust, dander and allergens.

This robot vacuum is well-built and feels solid. It works with an app on your smartphone that allows you to change the vacuum's settings and schedule cleaning sessions in advance. The app also lets you view the remaining battery life of the iQ and also receive notifications via push for any issues it encounters during its cleaning cycle. You can use your voice to control it using an Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant device or, if you do not have either of these options, you can mark zones with physical boundary strips.

The iQ does a good job of removing bare floors and does a decent job on low-pile and shaggy carpet, but it doesn't have the same level of autonomy as our top choices. It's also expensive and its monthly costs can add up.
