BMW Ghost Immobiliser

The Ghost uses the CAN data bus to communicate with your vehicle. This stops thieves adding an additional key or replacing the ECU to bypass your security system as it requires a valid PIN code to begin the engine.

Unlike other immobilisers unlike other immobilisers, the Ghost does not use LEDs or key fobs. It relies on the buttons of your vehicle to allow you enter a unique disarming sequence that you can only remember.

Stop & Start

If you have ever driven a new BMW or utilized the stop start feature, then you might have noticed that after stopping the engine will continue to be running for approximately 30 seconds after you release the brake pedal. The BMW engine management system continues to monitor the vehicle for signals emanating from the ignition key. Once it finds this, the vehicle will continue to run. The Autowatch 2 Ghost is a device that prevents this by stopping the vehicle when you press a button.

Our BMW ghost immobiliser, a next-generation device, doesn't require cutting OEM wires or add keys or alarms that are made by an aftermarket company. It is connected to your BMW's CAN data network and programmed with a secure, unique PIN code that can be accessed using buttons installed in your car. This lets you enter an exact key-push sequence that is not in the normal media menus, such as volume up/down and cruise control, source or aircon on and stops your car from starting until this is entered. The PIN can be between 4 and 20 characters, making it very difficult for thieves to figure out.

We can also add to the system the ability to use a service/valet feature. This is activated while your vehicle is being serviced to ensure that the Ghost is kept from view by the garage. You can activate this by pressing the service button five times on your infotainment system (the system will flash with confirmation) and the Ghost will automatically arm itself when you return.

With high-end vehicles being more prone to being targeted than ever before, we strongly recommend the Ghost immobiliser to be installed. Service / Valet Mode

The Ghost is a market leading immobiliser that is designed to protect your vehicle from being stolen through key cloning and hacking. It works by using the vehicles factory buttons to create a unique sequence of presses that only you can recognize, similar to as the pin code security of your mobile phone. It's subtle, extremely effective and deters even the most obstinate thieves!

If you're at home and in the event of a meet and greet In a meet and greet situation, the Ghost can be set to service mode, which allows you to start the vehicle using your keys in the normal way, however it stops the engine from being started again unless the proper code is entered. This is ideal for those who need to turn their cars to valet services or other trusted friends and family members. This lets you bring your vehicle to the garage for repairs and maintenance, etc. without fearing that it will be altered by an expert mechanic while you are waiting.

When the service or valet mode is activated it will stop your BMW from being driven when it is first started. This stops anyone from attempting to test drive it whilst you are away. When you return, the vehicle will return to normal operation and prevent it from being damaged or stolen.

The Ghost can be fitted to any BMW. All you require are the correct keys, because the device does not use the original remotes, but can be used in conjunction with them. Anti-Hijack

With the advent of high-tech thieves becoming increasingly and more sophisticated, the security technology is continuing to improve, which is why Ghost has created this discrete and discreet immobiliser. It is designed to prevent thieves from using an ignition key or replacing the ECU to start your vehicle and drive it off. Ghost is connected to your CAN network, and uses buttons on your vehicle to generate a unique push-sequence that must be entered before the engine can start.

This will activate the anti-hijack function and, once it is activated, any attempt to start the engine will be immediately blocked. The system will sharpen the horn flashing the indicators, and stall the vehicle in the event that the code cannot be found. By entering your push sequence, or entering service mode, you can cancel the Anti-Hijack function. This allows your vehicle to be temporarily started without having to enter the PIN.

If you have an GPS device that is connected to your BMW it could be used to cancel the Anti-Hijack feature, so you can still use the navigation system inside your car even when the vehicle is parked not being watched. You can also use your smart-phone to control the anti-theft feature as well as other functions.

The system lets you start the vehicle by selecting drive and then exit the service mode without the need to use your key fobs. You can also track your vehicle on a map in real-time on your smartphone.

The Ghost can be placed on the dashboard or within the centre console. It is completely hidden and secure, and does not require any additional wiring. The device is connected to the vehicles CAN Data Network (similar to an Ethernet cable) and a unique PIN code is programmed into it. The pin code must be chosen prior to the engine starting. This prevents thieves from bypassing the system by using an unauthorized clone or replacement ECU.

If the vehicle is being taken away, the Ghost will enter service mode and shut down all functions unless you have the PIN code or can use the mobile application to disarm it. This feature was designed to protect your vehicle from high tech criminals who are using relay boxes to steal your car. It also prevents thieves from using their mobile phone to activate your sat nav system or mp3 player to locate your vehicle!

Ghost also can stop "Relay Style Frequency Amplification". This is the most frequent method of stealing a car with a keyfob that's been copied, or stolen by hacking. Ghost enables you to prevent this by installing an anti-theft device within your vehicle that is called Secure-A Key. The device is inserted into the key fob of your car and shuts off its battery after a couple of inactive minutes. This can be done using the most modern PKE keys.
