Ambient Sound Control is another excellent feature. It adjusts the acoustic balance of the headphones depending on the surrounding. For instance, if you're at home listening to your favorite album the WH-1000XM5 can switch to a more immersive listening experience. If you're walking along a busy street they will switch to more focused profiles to help you be more aware of your surroundings.

The WH-1000XM5's ear cups have touch-sensitive controls on the right side, which can be used to play, pause and change tracks. You can also use a voice assistant to find content, alter volume and make calls hands-free. The headphones feature a clear stereo image and an even frequency response. They are also comfortable to wear for a long time and have fast charging with a USB-C port.

They don't have built-in microphones for voice command support however they do come with an audio response from Google Assistant and their mics are excellent at removing background noise from conversations.

The battery should last up to 20 hours for the majority of people. The USB cable is included to charge your phone. It's not as user-friendly as Bluetooth, but you still can listen to your music while you recharge. They also work with audio devices with 2.5mm ports, so you can travel with them.

The BT-600ANC headsets have an elegant design that is similar to the Monoprice M1000ANC headsets that we have reviewed last year. The headsets are matte gray barely branded, and don't really stand out in public. However, they do have a soft and comfortable fit that is suitable for most ears. The compact dimensions of these headphones and the included carrying case makes them perfect for traveling.

The ear cups are encased in leatherette, and offer excellent passive isolation. The headband is also soft and offers plenty of adjustability without feeling too slouchy or bulky. The headbands are large enough to accommodate glasses-wearers. They will fit most people.

Monoprice ANC is effective and doesn't sound tinny as some other brands. They have a slight increase between 100-200Hz, giving an even more full sound to bass notes. The opening track of Good 4 U, by Olivia Rodrigo, shows a full response. They have a dramatic drop off in the upper frequencies above ten kHz, therefore shakers and cymbals won't sound as clear and crisp.

It is possible to switch between three ANC modes that are low, medium and higher. The low setting is perfect for blocking out the majority of ambient noise, however it won't stop loud conversations or traffic. The medium setting works in all environments. The high setting will shield you from everything except your music. The touch-sensitive controls on the earcups can be a bit difficult to operate at first.
